Uninstall stubborn antivirus and security software
Security suites use drivers, network filters, and self-protection that block normal uninstall. Removing them incompletely can break network access or prevent a new product from installing.
Order of operations
- Check whether the vendor offers an official removal tool or documented uninstall steps, and use those when they exist.
- Disable self-defense only if the product UI allows it and your policy permits.
- Uninstall from Programs and Features, then reboot.
- Use HiBit’s force uninstall and leftover scan for traces in services, drivers, and startup.
- Reboot again and verify network and system stability before installing replacement software.
Why leftovers matter
Old kernel drivers and filter drivers can conflict with new security products. A thorough cleanup reduces random crashes, slow boot, and “partially installed” errors.
