Uninstall stubborn antivirus and security software

Security suites use drivers, network filters, and self-protection that block normal uninstall. Removing them incompletely can break network access or prevent a new product from installing.

Order of operations

  1. Check whether the vendor offers an official removal tool or documented uninstall steps, and use those when they exist.
  2. Disable self-defense only if the product UI allows it and your policy permits.
  3. Uninstall from Programs and Features, then reboot.
  4. Use HiBit’s force uninstall and leftover scan for traces in services, drivers, and startup.
  5. Reboot again and verify network and system stability before installing replacement software.

Why leftovers matter

Old kernel drivers and filter drivers can conflict with new security products. A thorough cleanup reduces random crashes, slow boot, and “partially installed” errors.
